Are your teeth discolored or stained? Would like a brighter, more natural-looking smile? If so, then you should contact us at Smile For Life to discuss having your teeth professionally whitened. Here at our top-of-the-line dental clinic, we offer both in-house whitening products and Zoom! to help restore your pearly white smile.
What Can I Expect When I Have My Teeth Whitened?
When you come to Smile For Life to have your teeth professionally whitened, you can be confident that you will receive excellent care from our highly trained team. You will be welcomed into our modern clinic, where you can get comfortable watching Netflix or listening to music in one of our patient rooms.
If you have chosen to have your teeth professionally whitened in-office with Zoom! laser treatment, you can expect the procedure to last between one and two hours. Our dentist will apply a bleaching gel which contains hydrogen peroxide, the active ingredient for tooth whitening. You will then have a high intensity light shone onto your teeth, which activates the gel and begins the whitening process. Your dentist will keep an eye on you throughout the whole process and make sure that there is no contact between your soft tissues and the whitening agent with the use of lip and cheek retractors. Zoom! is clinically proven to whiten your teeth up to eight shades in a single treatment performed.
Are There Any Risks Associated with Teeth Whitening?
When you have your teeth bleached, you may experience temporary tooth sensitivity. If you know that you have sensitive teeth, then please tell us during your consultation. Any sensitivity should resolve itself within a few days, leaving your teeth feeling and looking great. We pride ourselves in the quality of our patient care and do all we can to minimize discomfort for our patients.
What Is the Difference Between Professional and Over-The-Counter Whitening Products?
There is a variety of over-the-counter tooth whitening options that you can safely try at home. There include toothpastes, gels, and strips that you apply to the teeth for a period of time. The active whitening ingredient in toothpastes is primarily abrasives that remove extrinsic staining of the teeth. Gels and strips contain hydrogen peroxide that can remove the intrinsic staining below the enamel.
Both at-home and professional whitening products also rely on peroxide to whiten the tooth; however, professional whitening gels contain higher concentrations of peroxide than over-the-counter options. Having your teeth professionally whitened by us here at Smile For Life will mean you achieve whiter teeth a lot quicker than with non-professional methods.
